🔔 Reminders and notifications

Class reminders and Dynamic Island

Turn on class reminders, choose when they fire, and see courses on the iOS Dynamic Island.

Class reminders notify you before each class starts. A few conditions must be met first; each is explained below.

Turning on class reminders

  1. 1

Sign in and turn on cloud sync

Open "Me → Sync settings" and turn on timetable sync. Reminders are sent by the server based on your cloud timetable, so syncing comes first.

  2. 2

    Set a pinned timetable

Choose a pinned timetable in timetable management. Reminders are based on that timetable.

  3. 3

    Allow notification permission

Allow StarSchedule to send notifications in your system settings.

  4. 4

Turn on the reminder switch and pick a lead time

Open "Me → Reminder settings", turn on class reminders, and choose how many minutes ahead to be reminded.

    Choose 5 / 10 / 15 minutes ahead, and more

All four conditions are required

Signing in, notification permission, cloud sync, and a pinned timetable — reminders only fire reliably when all four are met.

iOS Dynamic Island and Live Activities

On iPhones that support the Dynamic Island, your next class appears in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen Live Activity, so you can see the room and time without opening the app.

The Dynamic Island and Lock Screen Live Activity show the next class

Notifications not firing?

  1. Check that system notification permission is on and you're not in Focus or Do not disturb mode
  2. Check that the class reminder switch is on in the app
  3. Check that cloud sync and a pinned timetable are both set
  4. Check that each section's start time in the section scheme is correct
  5. On Android, add StarSchedule to the battery optimization allowlist so it isn't cleared in the background

Android battery saving

Some Android systems limit background apps and delay notifications. Allow StarSchedule to run in the background and turn off battery optimization in your system settings.
